My name is Brenda and I started this blog to share my journey in making miniatures. I’ve been fascinated by miniatures since childhood, when I would build houses out of cardboard boxes for the pipe-cleaner animals I was obsessed with collecting. Tiny racoons and cats and dogs lived imaginary lives among furnishings I created.
My father was also a collector, but his passion was toy trains. One Christmas he proudly presented me with, what was at the time, the smallest toy train in the world. Watching him with his trains and paging through his magazines sparked my interest in creating miniature landscapes and I dreamed of creating a tiny train layout someday.
I never actually had a real dollhouse or train layout. Both required time and space that was lacking in my daily life. My little train has been carefully packed away for years. Other commitments and interests took precedence. Drawing and painting, scrapbooking and crafts with my children were my creative outlets. One day my husband brought an abandoned dollhouse home. It rekindled my interest in miniatures.
Now I am retired and my children are adults. I am blessed with a lovely room in my home that was designed as an office and crafting space. I have fond memories of crafting there with my children. My husband now calls it my mini factory. I am taking full advantage of this space and using my free time to create miniatures while my husband wanders through to try out his latest mini pun on me.
